Last call for Tauranga city byelection

Electoral authorities are issuing a last call for nominations to this year's Tauranga City Council byelection.

The council is holding the byelection in April for one at large position following the death of councillor Gail McIntosh earlier this year.

Nominations for candidates in the upcoming by-election close at 12pm on Monday, March 5.

Warwick Lampp, Tauranga City Council electoral officer, said people must have their nominations in by the deadline,

"We are unable to accept any late nominations. I urge prospective candidates to get their forms in on Friday, or at the latest 12 noon Monday, 5 March."

And remember: don't forget to enrol, you need to be enrolled to vote. If you own a property in Tauranga but live outside of the area, you are also eligible to vote, he said.
