Hundreds of people have already gathered at Tauranga's waterfront to welcome home Peter Burling and his team for the first time since New Zealand won the America's Cup.
Loud cheers and applause were heard and members of Emirates Team New Zealand arrived by boat at the waterfront. Some members of the crowd showcased homemade signs for the boys, who have brought the trophy to town.
Captain Peter Burling address the crowd with a brief question and answer session. He said he was grateful for the huge turnout of people, despite the blustery weather.
"It's is great to be able to bring the cup home," Burling said.
"Sorry we haven't been able to get here sooner."
