Tauranga's Black Sticks defender Sam Charlton was named the inaugural winner of the Robyn Mactaggart Medal at the 2015 Hawke's Bay Cup international women's hockey tournament.
The award recognises the player who is judged the best and fairest over the 24 match tournament.
The judging was done by a panel of three independent people and to be eligible for the award, players must not receive more than two yellow cards or a red card during the tournament.
Charlton says she is honoured and humbled to be recognised with this award.
"The Black Sticks really appreciate the support that has come from Hawke's Bay during the past few years and I am a little overwhelmed that I have been honoured with the inaugural Robyn Mactaggart medal," Charlton said.
