The accommodation boom has reached its peak but Tauranga's motel association president says bookings indicate holidaymakers will be sticking around until April.
Tauranga Motel Association president Gail Fagan said 99 per cent of motels had been "flat tack" over the New Year period.
"Every year we have a really good first week of January. I think the Mount is still fairly busy with the New Zealand Maori Golf National Tournament here. This end of town is certainly very busy, that will slowly meander off."
Mrs Fagan said guest nights started slowing down in the second week of January as people returned to work, but holidaymakers would still be around in the Bay until April.
"Bookings are still looking extremely strong for the next few months."
