Swimmers have been cleared to enter the water again at a popular Tauranga harbour spot.
Signs warning against swimming in the harbour were put up at Memorial Park before Christmas.
A spokeswoman for the Tauranga City Council said water in the area became contaminated following a minor sewage spill that occurred at the corner of Seventh Ave and Devonport Rd.
The overflow was caused by a build up of fat and paper in a gully trap, and resulted in a discharge of sewage into the harbour.
Warning signs were taken down yesterday and the council said the water was no longer contaminated.
