Gunnar Jackson has been itching to get back into the ring ever since his surprise defeat to 21-year-old Mose Auimatagi Junior on prime time television on July 4.
It was only the eighth loss in 36 professional bouts for the 30-year-old from Tauranga who had a rare off-night in what has been an impressive career.
Tonight he gets his chance to put that behind him when he takes on Bowyn Boman Morgan in a super welterweight bout on the undercard to the Joseph Parker v Alexander Dimitrenko clash in Auckland. Morgan has just eight pro bouts behind him but Jackson knows all about the 27-year-old from Waihi from their amateur days.
"Every guy is a threat but Morgan is definitely one to watch out for. We know how to match his style so come Saturday night we will match what he is going to bring and beat him," Jackson said.
"This fight is really important. We have to take one step at a time but we want to go there and win quite well and put ourselves back on the map again, let everyone know I am still here."
