The Greerton annual yarn bombing is in for its biggest year yet, with the number of trees being bombed increasing from 40 to 60.
More than 150 adults and children have already begun creating colourful crocheted or knitted sleeves for this year's yarn bombing of cherry trees in Greerton village in winter.
This year the focus was on local charities.
Greerton Village Community Knitters and Yarn Bombers coordinator Carol Power thought that the focus on charity groups increased the number of yarn bombers wanting to get involved.
Each tree would be yarn bombed to celebrate one of the non-profit organisations and the public could vote for their favourite tree with a gold coin donation.
