Work on the new Greerton Library is currently scheduled to begin on Monday.
Tauranga City Council project manager Helmut Marko said Marra Construction will begin preparing the site for demolition from Monday.
Fencing and hoardings will be in place around the construction site, including part of the Village Green.
The pathway to and from Lincoln Terrace will be closed and the footpath in front of the library on Greerton Road will be diverted during the redevelopment.
The car parks in front the library on Greerton Rd will also be closed and the band rotunda on the Village Green will be removed and put in storage during the redevelopment.
The community will be able to watch the demolition and construction online, thanks to a time lapse camera.
The new 960 square metre Greerton Library will be more than double the size of the present library.
In addition to community library services, the new library will include a community meeting room and Learning Centre. Completion is currently scheduled for May 2016.
The council approved $3.45 million project funding for the library in its Annual Plan 2014/15.
