We've had a great response since launching our Christmas Appeal on Saturday.

The Bay of Plenty Times Christmas Appeal 2011 aims to raise food and funds for the Tauranga Community Foodbank.

And already, donations are coming in.

We have had some good ideas put to us and we have some street can drives planned.

We've also written to the Bay's schools inviting them to take part.

I think this is a fantastic way for children to appreciate that some kids are living in homes where their parents are struggling to put food on the table.

We've also invited Bay businesses to help.

We're happy to feature all participating schools and businesses in the paper and on our website in recognition of their efforts.

You may also have an idea of how you can help. If so, we'd love to hear from you. You can simply email editor@bayofplentytimes.co.nz.

Christmas is a time for giving.

So, please, help us help the foodbank.
