Mount Maunganui golf professional Robert Rookes is likely the proudest coach in the country.
Two of his young charges - Bay of Plenty representatives Bailey Smith and Alanna Campbell - claimed a pair of wins against quality international opposition to begin a big year for the Bay of Plenty club.
Campbell, of the Omanu Golf Club, secured her first international title in style in Victoria.
She birdied the final two holes of the four-hole playoff in the warm and calm conditions at the Waverley Golf Club to claim the Victorian Junior Masters title.
Victorian Golf Club member Kono Matsumoto led going into the final round from fellow Victorian Soo-bin Park from Kingswood GC and New Zealand representatives Celyn Khoo and Campbell.
