Mount Maunganui golf club hosted 81 players, including 27 visitors, in the final Friday twilight golf for 2014 on Boxing Day.
The field included a good number of non-affiliates, with five winning prizes. It obviously worked as the leading scores indicate, nine men scored better than 22 points over 9 holes and seven women over 19 points. Near perfect Friday course conditions and presentation led to some awesome scoring by both women and men.
Compared to the three players scoring 25 points the previous week, only John Sheridan scored 25 points in the men's division, but there were three players on 24 and three on 23 points over the 9 hole competition.
Merle Halligan matched the previous week's twilight of 24 points and had a good lead over the runner-up Colleen Noble on 20 points (on a count-back).
Sponsors were Smith Sports Shoes and Latitude 37. Spot prize winner was Gillian Tustin, and other key prizes went to Richard Glubb, Stuart Reid and Cole Jarman. Jim Southall took home the hamper while meat packs went to Lynn Irving, Josh Joseph and John Sheridan.
