It's about that time of the year when my mind starts dreaming of a winter holiday - you know, one away from the cold and rain of New Zealand.
Apart from Rarotonga, I've always liked Australia. It's usually warm, and there are rarely any surprises after you land - unlike a holiday in Bali we once had!
One Aussie holiday my wife and I had a few years back was Noosa, and I simply loved it.
We stayed in an apartment that was in walking distance to all the restaurants and shops and - importantly - the beach.
The weather was balmy, the water was warm, and I found this awesome Mexican restaurant that served up the most delicious food.
Of course, like all holidays, they come to an end and then you have to go back to reality.
My mind was taken back to that Noosa holiday this morning when reading Paul Rush's travel piece on B3 in today's Bay of Plenty Times.
Rush samples the watery delights of this Sunshine Coast holiday spot. It's definitely worth a read.
It may just prompt you to book that winter getaway you've been thinking about.
