I loved Tintin books when I was a kid.
I can recall building my collection of the popular adventure comic books and used to read the stories about Tintin, his dog Snowy, drunken sailor Captain Haddock and bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson over and over again. My favourite was The Crab with the Golden Claws.
I've still got these books - and it seems some things never change.
Some 30 years later, I have recently learned my 7-year-old nephew is mad about the series too so I have dug my dusty books out of storage and will give them to him.
It also seems we're in good company. Sir Peter Jackson today reveals how he used to love the books when he was a boy.
On page A4 in today's Bay of Plenty Times, we have the story of how Tintin fans can now see how their favourite characters will appear in Sir Peter's upcoming film of the much-loved comic books.
Sir Peter is making The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.
"I fell in love with them ... I would grab a new Tintin book and happily spend three hours totally lost in the adventure," Sir Peter recalls of his own childhood.
I know exactly what he means.
