I hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend and the chance to spend time with family and friends, or participate in your favourite past-time.
I had a relaxing three days off and the chance to have a good break from work. I decided to do little by way of chores around the house and instead concentrated on kicking back and even started reading a new book. Of course, the lawns are beginning to look a bit long now but that's life.
So, it was nice to pick up last night's paper and see what the editorial staff who were working yesterday decided to put in the paper.
It was a positive edition with Queen's Birthday honours dominating the front of Section A.
It was fitting that we celebrated our local honours recipients and they are all worthy of recognition.
It's always great to feature people doing positive things and today's Community Gem is no exception. We meet Jean Buck, who is aged 70. For the past 11 years she has volunteered her time at The Dovecote opportunity shop in Papamoa.
