As we draw to the end of the working week, one of the highlights for me was meeting one of our loyal long-time subscribers - and rewarding him with a new car.
I was part of the Bay of Plenty Times and Tauranga Motor Group delegation that surprised Robin Connor on
Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Connor had entered our competition for a new Suzuki Alto, supplied by Tauranga Motor Company.
The genuine surprise on his face and the jubilant reaction of his wife Judith made us feel good and it was great that we were able to give the prize to a home subscriber of more than 20 years. We caught the moment on camera and video and everyone was excited - even the couple's dog.
The car has been a popular competition with more than 100,000 entries. I'd like to thank all subscribers who took part. Our talented sales and marketing teams are always coming up with great competitions and with the support of generous local companies we are able to offer fantastic prizes.
Our new competition is for a trip to the Gold Coast.
Given the wet weather pelting the newsroom windows as I write this, a trip to Aussie is very tempting indeed.
Of course I can't enter - but if you're a subscriber you can. As they say, you've got to be in to win so if you're keen on winning a family trip across the Tasman, why not enter?
I wish everyone who does all the best of luck.
