It seems like it's always raining lately.
Every few days the skies are darkening and making things very wet indeed.
Today's no exception.
But while we might complain, and struggle to mow the lawns, I believe it's worth sparing a thought for others both in New Zealand and around the world who have been severely affected by bad weather.
People in Hawke's Bay were hit hard in the days following Anzac Day.
Farmers were hammered, people forced from their homes, campervans tossed around and roads damaged.
They're still cleaning up the mess.
On today's Bay of Plenty Times world page, A10, we carry the story of how the Mississippi River crested in Memphis overnight at a height just centimetres short of the area's all-time record.
The flooding has forced hundreds from their homes.
Heavy rain and melting snow have caused river levels to rise.
Back here in New Zealand, a severe weather watch has been issued for a number of areas for today and tomorrow - including the Bay of Plenty.
So, yes it's raining again but let's hope it's not too bad and the sunshine returns for the weekend.
And whatever the weather brings, I think it's worth remembering that we live in one of the best places in the country.
