From the Deputy Editor: Walks

I've often looked over at Matakana Island and wondered what's hidden behind the rows of tall pines.
This weekend Sport Bay of Plenty is giving curious locals like me the opportunity to explore the island with their annual walk.
Hundreds of people are expected to board the ferry at Omokoroa to take part in the 8km or 12km walks - which serve as the community's biggest fundraiser.
