It's amazing what some people will do for a good cause.
This weekend nearly 70 people will endure an icy five-minute plunge all in the name of charity.
The annual Heart Stopper challenge will see 16 teams from businesses and organisations such as St John Ambulance, Fulton Hogan, Bay of Plenty District Health Board, Police, ASB bank and Aegis Security take part. Some of the brave participants include Tauranga MP Simon Bridges and former NZ rugby sevens captain Matua Parkinson.
But the truly brave ones are the children who go through a similar process before open heart surgery. Each participant will aim to raise $100 to help support these courageous children and their families who are affected by childhood heart conditions.
If you're game enough to take a dip, you can always head down to Bunnings on Saturday morning and support those that are by making a donation.
