A former Tauranga top cop may walk away without conviction after being charged with careless driving in Hastings.
Tania Kura, now a top police officer in Hawke's Bay, became the first female senior sergeant at Mount Maunganui Police Station in 2005.
Kura, 49, now Hawke's Bay Area Commander Inspector, was on duty in her patrol car when she was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Maraekakaho Rd in Hastings, on November 26 last year.
District Commander of the Eastern District Superintendent Sandra Venables said the other vehicle was driven by a member of the public.
"[Kura] was on duty and driving a police vehicle at the time. After an investigation, she was charged with careless driving," Ms Venables said.
