The Fury won a hard fought three points versus Onehunga Mangere at Modcom Field Te Puna in the last round of the Northern league second division. Juan Pablo Rosende scored the only goal of the game in the 70th minute following a sweeping move down the Fury's right.

Both sides had gilt edged opportunities to score with Fury doing just enough to justify the win though it was all hands to the pump as the Aucklanders pressed for an equaliser late on.

It was a welcome three points for the Fury who had seen wins slip from their grasp in two away games in Auckland.

Tomorrow Fury host Auckland's Te Atatu at Modcom Field, Te Puna.

Northern league first division leaders Belvedere Tauranga City United have been drawn away both games over Anzac weekend. They take on Mt Albert Ponsonby on Saturday and Takapuna on Monday.

Last week in the WaiBOP Premiership, Matamata Swifts helped by a Jamie Baxter hattrick, returned from Tauranga City United with all three points after a 5-2 victory. Otumoetai snuck past Old Blues 3-2 at Wharepai Domain to claim their first win of the season and also get their hands on the Federation Challenge Shield. Goals from Adam Proverbs and James Milford had Otumoetai clear at the break before Old Blues got themselves into the contest during the second half.

The hosts scored twice through Josh Bates and Luke Wakely, but Daniel Miller's 66th minute goal ultimately proved decisive to give the previously underperforming Greens a boost ahead of the ASB Chatham Cup.

Papamoa grabbed their first WaiBOP Premiership win in fine style with a 4-1 victory at Southey Field over Tauranga Boys' College. Papamoa made no real contest of it with goals from Luke Barlow, Mehdi El Barakat, Rikki Ringside and Daniel Hight.

Waikato Unicol's match at home to Katikati was a Premiership match affected by the weather. In the other matches a Wes Green double got Old Blues reserves past Matamata Swifts reserves 2-0, while Cambridge reserves dealt to Ngongotaha reserves 4-1 thanks to Adam Brady (2), Ed Kettle and James Cakebread.
