Tauranga City United have followed up winning promotion to the Northern Region Division One competition by confirming themselves as the Division Two champions.
The club could hardly have scripted it any better - winning the league on a picture postcard Sunday afternoon in front of their home fans, with two games still up the sleeve for experimentation.
The 6-0 scoreline was an accurate reflection of the gulf in quality between Tauranga and their Claudelands rivals, and could have been worse had the Blues - minus the suspended Jerahl Hughes - made more of their opportunities.
Andrew Cooper's first-half hat-trick came in double quick time, clinching the Pascoe Shield early in the piece and placing Links Avenue into party mode with the sun still high in the sky.
The first came with a touch at the end of a curling Sam O'Regan through-ball after a surging run from centre back. Cooper showed too much gas for his opposite and managed a nudge past the advancing goalkeeper.
