In 2018 they would be on their own.
The change comes on the back of an urgent appeal for the community group who is running out of food as an overwhelming number of struggling residents are turning to them for help.
In January and February this year there was a 10 per cent increase in the number of food parcels going out compared to the same two months last year.
Food flew off the shelves at the Tauranga Community Foodbank after a massive Christmas Appeal for the foodbank which brought in 29,455 items of food and $70,220 in cash donations. In the year to date, the foodbank has sent out 1339 parcels, helping 4059 people.

Tauranga Community Foodbank chairwoman Sharon Hitchcock said there were no available Council buildings when they first had to vacate Dive Cres.
"We were so grateful never to use money on rent. But we have gone from $0, to $20,000 and then $35,000 in a very short space of time," she said.
Although the foodbank was robust they would go backwards very quickly over the next few years as they started to pay the rent.
"We do really well to prop ourselves up but we can't continue to do that [and pay rent], without going to the community for funding."
The foodbank had funding for wages and electricity then operated off public donations.
It was important to support the foodbank because they reached out to such a wide part of the community, she said.
A concerned resident donated two shopping bags full of food to the Bay of Plenty Times yesterday.
She had tried to support the Tauranga Community Foodbank over the years when she could so quickly went down to the supermarket to do her part to help when she saw the news they were struggling.
"I know by giving this food it will go to where it is needed. It will go to somebody's cupboard and they will be able to feed their family," she said.
