A Tauranga fisherman will be telling the story of the one that didn't get away after hooking a $685,000 win with Lotto Strike Four over the weekend.
The winning Tauranga man, who did not want to be identified, said he was thrilled about the win.
"I'm just stoked. I feel very fortunate. It hasn't really sunk in yet," he said.
The winner claimed his ticket on Monday at a local retailer, and picked up something special to celebrate at the same time - a nice wine to go with the catch of the day.
"I got some strange looks walking out the of the Lotto shop with a bottle of wine at 8.30 in the morning!"
The winner said he planned to whisk his family off to Australia for a holiday, renovate his house - or maybe even buy another house altogether.
The winning ticket was purchased at Girven Road Micro Mart, Mount Maunganui.
