A team of eight firefighters, including five from Te Puke, have been putting their bodies on the line to raise funds for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand by running the length of the country.
Dubbed South2Sky, the group of mainly volunteer firemen began their epic 12-day 1807km relay run from the Bluff to Auckland on May 9, stopping off at fire stations and small towns along the way.
It's a privilege for us to be able to do this for such a worthy cause.
Richard Crawford, 57, Matt Cooke, 38, Grant Scothern, 39, Laurence Cameron, 27, Andrew Bestic, 24, all from Te Puke, and Roddy Kirk, 38, from Kawerau, Mornay Jacobs, 38, from Taupo and Ed Love, 29, from Southbridge, near Ashburton, arrived in Te Puke at 4pm yesterday.
