The first hospitality tenant to join the $200 million Farmers Tauranga development's brand new dining precinct has been revealed.
Husband and wife duo Noel and Kim Cimadom's new restaurant, Picnicka, will take centre stage on Thirty Eight Elizabeth's food and beverage terrace.
The Bay of Plenty Times can also revealexclusive first images of the new restaurant as part of the development's dining terrace.
The Farmers flagship store, including a retail and dining precinct, plus 97 luxury apartments and 23 sky townhouses, will be known as Elizabeth Towers.
Picnicka will be the main feature of the food and beverage offering.
"We are very pleased to be bringing this new slow living dining experience to the heart of Tauranga City as part of this transformational development," Noel said.
"It is the first time for us in a new development. We have landed in a very exciting time for Tauranga and we are proud to be part of that."
Noel said the name Picnicka came from an idea to create a marketplace, deli, and meeting place where people may go to get good quality provisions to take on a picnic.
"When you have a picnic, you select the best bites, a variety of lovely things to enjoy with people you love.
"Like a village market, Picnicka will create a sense of cultural inclusion and belonging using the same two ingredients: Food and people.
"The experience of being at Picnicka has been conceived mindfully to please the daily grazers."
The venue will be split into three zones – a kitchen deli, high-seating bar, and a seated restaurant so diners can either grab something quick from the deli, have drinks at the bar or dine in the main restaurant.
Small and large plates will be available, as well as aged meats from a display cabinet that will be grilled on an Argentinian chargrill, and an oyster bar.
Residents of Elizabeth Towers will be able to select their own cuts of meat, while the deli will provide a bespoke food delivery service to their front doors.
"We will be able to provide cheeses, cuts of meat and fresh produce from the deli for residents to cook at home," Noel said.
"Or they will be able to take advantage of an exclusive internal cooked meal service, where Picnicka dishes will be delivered to their door."
Priority One chief executive Nigel Tutt said Noel and Kim were "among the best in the business" and he had no doubt the pair will deliver a quality and engaging experience like their other restaurants.
"Thirty Eight Elizabeth will be transformational for Tauranga and is a high-quality development in all aspects, the food and beverage experience will be a big part of that."
Tauranga Chamber of Commerce chief executive Matt Cowley said the city centre was starting to cater to a wide audience with family-friendly options as well as high-end options.
"As the city centre attracts more people to live and work, more entertainment options will quickly follow. It is exciting to see how the city centre evolves over the next few years."
Thirty Eight Elizabeth and Elizabeth Towers project manager Brett Nicholls said Picnicka was the perfect fit for the development.
"Elizabeth Towers is centred around a cosmopolitan way of having the choice to dine-shop-live, all in one central location. It's the ultimate opportunity to live well...
"This community in the sky promises to provide the good life like never before."
More than 160 car parks will be available for visitors, shoppers, and diners and are split over four levels.
