Several thousand tickets for the McLaren Falls Festival have sold in just over two weeks.

Tickets for the January festival went on sale on August 24 and the cheapest tier, at $199, sold out in 15 minutes, festival director Paxton Talbot said.

"That first day was quite something."

The second price tier was now down to the final 1000 tickets before prices would be hiked another $50 from the current price of $255 to $275.

"We've sold several thousand ... It's been good," he said.

"The first week was extremely good. It was much better than we were expecting, to put it mildly."

Organisers were amping up to release the second line-up in early October, with Disclosure and The Flaming Lips already drawing a lot of excitement from the first line-up.

Mr Talbot expected the second line-up to add to the excitement, if not exceed the excitement of the first announcement, with several international acts still to come.

"There are some very strong acts in this one ...

"Once you add those to the first release I think people will be very excited.

"There are one or two acts in there who are going to cause some happy ripples."

It would also give people more of an idea of the type of vibe the event would have.

Mr Talbot said there was increasing pressure for one-day tickets so a limited pre-sale would be released in October.

"It was going to be November, but there's been such high demand that we'll release some mid-October.

"But to do that we'll need to know when everyone will be playing."

October would be a busy month for organisers to sort the final line-up and confirm times, Mr Talbot said.

"We'll put the majority of the music in this one."

The performing arts line-up would be a drip-feed announcement from the end of October onwards.

Campervan spots had been selling well and the glamping option was also proving popular.

Sales for the other camp sites were steady, he said.

Tickets had sold to people of all ages, which was the mix organisers were hoping for, with early-bird family tickets having already sold out.

The event's capacity was 12,000 people.
