A mass emergency alert will be sent to all Bay of Plenty residents signed up for alerts on Friday.
Emergency Management Bay of Plenty will be testing all available alerting systems across the Bay of Plenty at 10am on Friday.
The test will include the text and email alerting systems and the fixed sirens in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Facebook, Twitter, and websites will also be updated with information during the test.
The message would clearly indicate it was a test.
Emergency Management Bay of Plenty Director Clinton Naude hoped the advertising in the lead-up to the test would remind people to take the opportunity to get their household prepared and make sure the family had a plan in place.
