Duck hunting is nearly upon the Bay of Plenty and in preparation local Fish and Game held a duck hunters' day near Kaituna River over the weekend.
Eastern Region Fish and Game expect this hunting season to be one of the best for some time.
Sunday's duck hunting day saw hunters educated about how to be a more successful hunter and encouraged youth hunters into the sport.
Out on the Lower Kaituna wetland, northeast of Te Puke, a good turnout of hunters showed up to learn a thing or two.
Senior Fish and Game officer Matthew McDougall said it would be a better season than in the past seven years.
