In the past we used to pick up a sizeable amount of donated food from you, the public, from sympathetic and supportive supermarkets.
Recently we have wondered about the drop off of that donated food.
I actually do not believe for an instant that people don't want to any more, I know that many of the key supermarkets have renovated and the SPCA donation box locations have moved and are perhaps not so easy to identify.
What we are thrilled and grateful for is the fact that the supermarkets have included our donation boxes in their new designs.
We thank you for that.
We are facing challenging problems (as always) with a lack of kitty litter for our kittens - we certainly are not finished with this kitten season - and a lack of good, dry cat and kitten food.
We need the public's support and assistance in providing these items for our 70 cats and kittens currently on site.
The donation boxes are usually situated on either the entrance or exits of the supermarket but if you are unsure, please inquire with the staff.
I have detailed which supermarkets you will find these donation boxes below.
- Countdown, Papamoa
- Countdown, Bayfair
- Woolworths Bayfair
- Countdown, Greerton
- Countdown, Fraser Cove
- New World, Brookfield
- Countdown, Bethlehem
- New World, Katikati
To all of the people who have in the past and will still continue to donate whatever food supplies that they can afford to part with, we will always be extremely grateful.
Of course if you choose to come to the SPCA at 43 Alach St, Greerton personally to donate, we will be thrilled to see you.
