A woman was arrested following an armed police raid on a house in suburban Greerton.

Tauranga Armed Offenders' Squad arrived at the Sterling Grove property shortly before 7am yesterday after being called to assist the investigation team with a search warrant.

Head of the AOS, Inspector Karl Wright-St Clair, said there were four people in the house when the squad arrived, all of whom were adults. They were handcuffed and told to lie on the footpath but co-operated with police, he said.

The AOS was called in as a matter of safety for the team of six or seven police officers who followed.

Detective Brian Dudley said a 26-year-old woman was arrested at the property and appeared in Tauranga District Court yesterday.

Mr Dudley said she faced minor drug charges in relation to items police allegedly found during the search.

A woman staying in a neighbouring house saw the armed police enter the house and bring people outside.

Her daughter was woken up by all the noise and said she heard police enter the house.
