A Tauranga man who suffered a stroke had his only means of communication stolen, but an anonymous member of the public has offered to come to his rescue.
Aspen Rest Home resident Alan Coombes went to a Cameron Rd dairy when his iPad was stolen.
Mr Coombes, 67, had a stroke three years ago and as a result cannot speak.
Aspen Rest Home facility manager Olwyn Kunz said Mr Coombes' family put together some money and bought him an iPad, which she said was his main form of communication.
"Without it, it is like playing charades," she said.
