People have suffered damage inside their homes after a car crashed into a power pole in Mount Maunganui last night, resulting in damage to low and high voltage power lines.
The two-car crash happened on Matapihi Rd about 6pm and left powerlines strewn across the road.
Powerco said this afternoon that the network power had been restored but there had been some customers who suffered damage inside their homes.
Network control manager Phil Marsh said about 40 customer homes had been affected.
"The electricity supply has been isolated for these customers and electrical inspections are occurring now."
