The Mauao base track and Leisure Island have re-opened tonight after both locations were closed to the public this afternoon when Cyclone Pam produced massive swells up to 8 metres.
Mauao base track was re-opened just after 6pm and Leisure Island shortly after.
MetService meteorologist Georgina Griffiths said the biggest impacts for the Bay of Plenty would be coastal.
In a release issued this evening, Tauranga City Council said would like to thank everyone for their patience during the closure which was for public safety.
