A minor crash near the Wairoa Bridge on State Highway 2 is causing traffic delays.

A passing motorist told the Bay of Plenty Times the crash did not look bad but traffic was backing up on the Te Puna side of the bridge.

A police media spokeswoman said the crash was reported about 4.30pm and it was a nose-to-tail crash.

No injuries were reported, she said.
