Bay man Te Paewhenua Roberts has been officially declared a missing person after a final sweep of steep bush in the Kaimai Range on Saturday failed to turn up any clues.
Mr Roberts, 53, better known as Bobby, has not been seen since 8.30am last Tuesday. Matamata Sergeant Graham McGurk said the police file would remain open and the crash would continue to be investigated.
A search team scoured a river area on Saturday but found nothing new.
A team of about 60 searchers, including family members, had been in the bush for a week. Items of Mr Roberts' clothing had been found, including a vest and Swanndri jacket.
Mr Roberts was in a Fulton Hogan van when it crashed through a stone wall at the Kaimai Range summit.
