More than 1000 properties were without power this morning after a car crashed into a power pole on Ohauiti Rd.
A police media spokesman said the crash was reported at 7.03am and it looked "as though a car has crashed into a power pole".
The crash happened near Harrisfield Drive, felling power lines. It was not clear what injuries the driver suffered.
Shortly after Powerco listed a power outage for the area, affecting 1225 properties in Ōhauiti, with 11.50am the estimated time of power restoration.
Powerco later updated the number of properties affected by the crash to 270, with an estimated restoration time of 12pm.
