Crash blocks SH2 lane near Te Puke

A lane on State Highway 2 is closed as emergency services deal with a crash at Pongakawa.

Western Bay of Plenty head of road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said police were responding to reports of a collision involving a car and a truck at 7.30am.

It was understood an elderly woman was involved and possibly injured.

Mr Campion said one lane was blocked at the crash site, about 15km south of Te Puke.

Firefighters and St John ambulance officers were also responding.

It is understood no one is trapped in their vehicles.
