After the detection of the Eastern Bay of Plenty case, additional testing was available at the Nukuhou North Settlers until 4pm today. Testing will also be available at Med Central in Whakatāne today from 9am to 4pm.

The spread of Covid-19 in the Bay of Plenty is another reminder to get tested if you're feeling unwell and to get your first dose of the vaccine if you haven't already, the statement said.

This were 12 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in the Bay of Plenty yesterday, bringing the region's total to 53. This included the first case in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Tūhoe tribal leaders are gearing up to provide safety measures following the confirmed case in Waimana valley, 26km southeast of Whakatāne.
There were no new cases in the Lakes District Health Board region which includes Rotorua, Taupō and Tūrangi.
