A Tauranga cyclist who has not cycled along SH2 to Katikati for 20 years because it is so dangerous has appealed to the Tauranga City Council to back the Omokoroa to Tauranga cycleway.
Lyn Manning, of Otumoetai, highlighted the cycling rally attended by more than 600 people in Tauranga on Sunday. He said that on the same day 1500 people protested at the proposed port extensions in Auckland.
"Given Auckland's much larger population the percentage of people who turned out in Tauranga to support the cycle trails was many times greater."
