Baypark seeks a $5 million ratepayer bail-out (News, December 7).
Very predictable so I am not surprised as the then-TCC were warned to keep away from Baypark before they purchased it.
The underhand dealings that were reported over this at the time did not inspire confidence. My advice to TCC: Cut your losses and get rid of it if you can. This is another in the growing list of business disasters that TCC is involved in, eg TCAL, art gallery.
Get out, leave businesses to those people who know how to run one successfully. Ratepayers cannot afford to bail out another one.
If that wasn't bad enough, unbelieving I read further on that TCVL asked the council for another $1.7 million to build an additional indoor sports centre. The people running TCVL are already $5 million in trouble with loans and expect TCC to hand over another $1.7 million. Incredible.
TCC, get rid of all of these business disasters and concentrate on the core responsibilities. Leave the flashy stuff to the experts in these fields. I could say a lot more and point the finger but will keep quiet.
