The part-time builder has been a volunteer coach, gear officer, grounds officer, field booker and all-round club supporter and loves every minute of it.
His sons Tomasi, 12, Jonathon, 9, and Logan, 7, are the reason you will find him on the field at least three times a week during football season.
"It's for the boys," he says.
Brent initially started off helping out "as one of the dads" then doing some joint-coaching, and he later joined the club committee about four years ago.
These days he is heavily involved in the club.
He coaches three junior football teams for the Blue Rovers, two of which his older sons play in, he's the coach a futsal team and coaches the under 13s federation team.
He says he "kind of just fell into it" when he saw a need for more help in the club.
"We've got a great team of people here at the club and a really good culture that keeps people around for years."
It's a hot Tauranga day as Armitage points out the changes to the Blue Rovers clubroom on Fraser St.
A lot of work was put into the previous run-down hall, and it is now used by many other community activities such as fitness classes and meditation classes, Armitage says.
Being involved in the club for many years means he has seen a lot of children come and go.
"We've brought a lot of these kids up, and it's great seeing them go on to play for federation teams.
"They do feel like my own kids," he says.
He was at his son's end-of-year prizegiving at Tauranga Intermediate School and watched many kids he had coached over the years.
"It's so good to see them growing and being successful not just in sports but also academically."
Brent used to play football when he was a child but doesn't describe it as his passion as he prefers the coaching side of things.
"It's about inspiring kids."
His son Tomasi says he enjoys having his dad as his football coach.
"Yeah he's all right," Tomasi jokes as he chases the ball across the field.
