Welcome Bay and Papamoa residents may notice cloudy looking water as a result of some watermain breaks and shutdowns over the last few days.
Tauranga City Council said the cloudy or milky colour was caused by air bubbles trapped in the water as a result of some watermain breaks and shutdowns to the bulk water network supplying these areas over the last few days.
If residents filled a glass of water from the tap and let it stand for a few minutes, the water would clear from the bottom up. The cloudy water caused by trapped air bubbles had been through the normal water treatment process so was safe to drink as usual.
The council said the water aeration was not related in any way to the supply of water for the jet boat sprint event at the ASB Baypark Stadium.
