Volleyballers Sam O'Dea and Mike Watson helped clear 30 bags of rubbish from the beach to fundraise for their trip to the beach volleyball world championships.
O'Dea said about 30 volunteers each filled a bag full of rubbish and recycling picked up between Mount Main Beach and Tay St on Saturday.
"We had a little introduction then we split everyone into teams of about four and headed in different directions. We collected until about 12pm then organised a barbecue for the volunteers and had some spot prizes from our sponsors."
O'Dea said businesses had sponsored each of the 30 bags, raising about $3000 toward his and Watson's costs.
"Everyone really enjoyed themselves. We had a really good time."
