Books of condolence are being set up by local councils in the Tauranga area to offer messages of support and comfort to those affected by the Christchurch terror attack.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council offices and libraries in Katikati, Tauranga and Te Puke will each have books to provide an opportunity for people to express their sympathies to the victims, their families, the people of Christchurch and to Muslim communities around New Zealand.
Western Bay mayor Garry Webber said the books were made available after the Christchurch earthquakes "and hundreds of residents and visitors to the Western Bay took the opportunity to share their thoughts".
"The condolence books will open for as long as needed and at an appropriate time be sent to the Mayor of Christchurch and leaders of the Christchurch Muslim community on behalf of the people of the Western Bay."
The Western Bay of Plenty council has been doing its bit for the community, in light of the tragedy, with the planning of vigils and regular minutes of commemoration at events.
