A Katikati man's threatening comments over the phone forced the closure of two of the country's Inland Revenue offices yesterday.
The call to Inland Revenue's call centre in Wellington, resulted in the Tauranga and Wellington offices being closed to the public about 11am.
Police said a male phoned the IRD upset over child support payments.
There were no direct threats but the nature of the man's comments made suggestion to the shooting in Work and Income Ashburton last year.
A man seen walking around the Greerton Winz office with what appeared to be a gun late last year caused an urgent call out by police, who blocked off the area and shut down the office.
