Cheerleaders throughout New Zealand are waiting to receive official confirmation that they have broken the world record for the largest cheerleading pyramid.
Sixty cheerleaders made the pyramid during a national cheerleading competition in Tauranga on Saturday in an attempt to break the current Guinness World Record of 46.
Bay Twisters chairwoman Rebecca Grigson said the girls had managed to break the world record, but had to wait for official recognition from officials.
She was in the process of sending through video evidence of the attempt during Bay Twisters' Battle in the Bay competition.
"Once we have done that we should know within a month," she said. "Everyone lined up and had their numbers on, it was all very official."
