A car has crashed into a power pole in Mount Maunganui this afternoon.

The crash happened on Links Ave, near Ascot Rd, and police were called to the scene at 1.55pm.

A police media spokeswoman said the power lines had been brought down from the impact.

"No one has been injured and no one was trapped in the vehicle," she said.

The spokeswoman said power authorities had been called.
