Rush hour traffic has been delayed in one of Tauranga downtown's main intersections following a two-car crash shortly after 5pm today.

The crash happened at the intersection of Elizabeth St and Takitimu Drive, with a police spokesperson saying the drivers were uninjured but shaken, and the cars undriveable.

However traffic was flowing again within about 15 minutes of the crash after the two cars were pulled off the road and parked on the side of Takitimu Drive.

''There will be a bit of a delay for traffic down there," the spokesperson said.

Police were informed about the crash at 5.09pm.
