Car and logging truck crash on SH2 Tauranga

A logging truck and car have crashed on State Highway 2 in Tauranga.

A police spokeswoman said officers were on the way to the scene on Takatimu Drive. Initial reports the crash happened near Tauranga Habour Bridge have since been updated to happening between 15th Ave and the Jonathon St/Waihi Rd area, she said.

The spokeswoman said the person who reported the collision at 12.06pm saw the truck "pushing the car sideways down the road".

It was not known whether anyone was injured. Ambulance staff have been called.
