Independent MP Brendan Horan is refusing to comment on the current state of an investigation into the matters that led to his expulsion from the New Zealand First Party.
Mr Horan was expelled from the NZ First caucus in early December last year, amid allegations that he had taken money from his dying mother's bank account to gamble with.
When the Bay of Plenty Times contacted him yesterday Mr Horan said he wanted to reiterate "it was a private family matter".
He said it would be inappropriate for him to comment while "documents" had been filed in the High Court.
